On March 15, 2019, Sofala Province was hit by the biggest Cyclone in memory in the Southern Hemisphere.<\/p>

Cyclone IDAI destroyed houses, hospitals, warehouses, medical centers, schools, restaurants, informal stands, kindergartens, shelters, markets, roads, bridges, trees, soccer fields, electricity stations and banks. But above all, cyclone IDAI destroyed dreams and projects, killed hundreds of people, displaced thousands of families and razed agricultural crops.<\/p>

The MAKOBO PLATFORM, through the SOLIDARITY HEART movement and in conjunction with other local and international partners, has mobilized from the moment too, through its experience, support the coordination of humanitarian action in the areas affected by Cyclone IDAI.<\/p>

We intend to give concrete and effective help to the population affected by this disaster.<\/p>

Our team in BEIRA supported the coordination of meal preparations and logistics at WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN, which provided food support to 13,000 people sheltered in the camps of the National Institute for Disaster Management \u2013 \u200b\u200bINGC, as a strategy for consolidating synergies to ensure that we provide quick, efficient and quick support to the most affected people by Cyclone IDAI.<\/p>

At the same time, our efforts were focused on:<\/strong><\/p>

\"\u2b50\"\u00a0Conduct an exhaustive survey on the ground, in order to identify the areas with the greatest need and move forward in a second phase in the assembly of satellite kitchens to guarantee at least one meal a day to all those who need it most in the region.<\/p>

\"\u2b50\" Provide nutritious meals to children attending schools in the worst affected areas of Beira City, Dondo and Nhamatanda Districts.<\/p>

\"\u2b50\" Promote the production, availability, access and self-sufficiency of locally produced food.<\/p>

\"\u2b50\" Improve sanitation, hygiene education and housing infrastructure conditions for neighboring communities affected by Cyclone IDAI in Sofala Province<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
